The family of the murdered Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ICT acting manager Chris Msando has finally spoken following his brutal death.
His widow, Eva Msando, said she was at a loss on how to explain to their children, aged between two and 10, about what happened, considering “he had promised they would grow old together only for it to turn out this way”.
The entire family was of the opinion “they were finished” as Msando was one person they all depended on for many things.

According to the Standard on Wednesday, August 2, family and friends who mourned at the late’s Nyayo Estate home said Msando had been an upbeat man who enjoyed humour.
A relative who spoke to the daily said Msando left the home on Friday, July 28, at 5 am to prepare for a media session at KTN to discuss the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS).
“He was jovial as usual that morning. He briefed us about his day as usual. He was very straightforward and an honest person. Later he would narrate what his day was like. He was very social and friendly, a man who enjoyed telling stories humourosly,” one of his brothers was quoted as saying.

In the evening, just a little after 8 pm, Msando is said to have called home to confirm he would be late as he was held up at work. At 10 pm, when the family attempted reaching him, his mobile phone was off.
“I was in the house with the children and struggled to put them to bed because they were waiting for their dad. I tried calling him several more times but nothing suspicious crossed my mind. I figured he simply had too much work as he’d said,” said another relative.
The following day, Saturday, July 29, Eve reported her husband missing at the Embakasi police station. Their calls to family and friends to locate Chris proved futile as they assured her he would turn up, only for his body to be discovered at the morgue at City Mortuary.

Msando’s body was discovered in a thicket in Kikuyu, and in the vicinity, the body of the 21-year-old woman who is said to have spent the evening with him celebrating the Friday night away with.
His car was located in Roysambu off Thika Road and towed to Kasarani police station.
He is survived by his widow, ,Eve, and their four children aged between two and 10.
