Viking restaurant in Ajman takes visitors back to the Middle Ages

If you’ve ever felt the urge to eat like the Vikings once did, a new restaurant in Ajman is all set to recreate the magic of the past.

The venue, simply called Viking, will open its doors in the Ajman Heritage District on Thursday.

The first restaurant of its kind is designed to take customers back in time. This means medieval themed interiors, staff dressed in authentic clothing and even traditional Viking food.

“It’s not just about having a unique concept – which it already is – but about reinventing dining,” said Ivo Cuci, the restaurant’s general manager. “There are a few Viking themed restaurants around the world, but ours is different because it brings the Viking experience to the table in every way.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into making sure customers feel like they’re stepping back in time thousands of years. Today we have a lot of technology, but we try to hide all the signs of it. Think of things like telephones, WiFi or cash registers. Even the lighting is mostly candles. It may seem simple, but the most challenging part is setting up this medieval space in a modern era.”

The attention to detail also extends to the crockery and cutlery, which is custom made for the restaurant. This means that guests can expect heavy plates and bowls, mugs and cups on their table. The restaurant even has traditional Viking horns with the logo on them and specially crafted knives and forks.

As part of his efforts to remain as authentic and traditional as possible, the menu is designed to mimic the food the Vikings ate.

“Of course it’s not exactly down to the last detail — Vikings ate wild animals, and we can’t exactly do that in a restaurant,” Cuci says. “But we’ve worked hard and documented the Viking diet on which our menu is based. That means we looked at the ingredients used, the types of techniques, which usually include grilling, roasting and smoking the meat.

“Vikings actually had a very rich diet. They traveled around, so they discovered a lot of different foods, and they ate a lot of bread, a lot of protein, fish, meat, fruits and vegetables. It’s almost like a Mediterranean diet.”

Main courses include steaks, lamb chops, chicken legs, soups, bread and cheese. There are no burgers or pizzas at this location.

To make it even more fun, the dishes are named after popular Viking warriors, such as Bjorn Ironside choice (Where’s my lamb?), No meat for me! The king of Oleg Kiev, and the battle meal of Leif Erikson. The restaurant also offers an extensive drinks menu, including a King Ragnar themed menu.

There will be plenty of live entertainment, including cooking shows and fire dancers, as well as medieval ballads performed by popular musician Daridel Paganfolk, all in keeping with the theme.

“We look forward to adding more experiences,” Cuci says. “We want people to be able to experience something new, something they can’t do anywhere else. And even if you’re not a fan of Vikings, you can always come in for the food.”

Restaurant Viking will open to the public on November 25, with two time slots for reservations: 7pm-9pm and 10pm midnight. Open daily except Tuesdays; 06 744 4431; [email protected]

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur, said on Monday that the results of recently closed polls will not affect the 2022 parliamentary elections and that the BJP will re-form in the state in a general election.

Speaking at a public meeting in Dharampur in Mandi district, Thakur said the results of the bypolls have given some time to rejoice before the congress, but they will not affect the 2022 election polls as the results will be different. and the BJP would once again form a government in HP .

“Today, the nation is safe in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and gives an appropriate response to all the adversities of the neighboring countries.

The repeal of Article 370, the construction of Lord Rama Temple in Ayodhya is possible thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s strong leadership and political will,” he added.

He stated that the current state government ensures that every section of society and every area benefits from the BJP government’s welfare and development plans. The people of the Dharampur area were fortunate to have a dynamic and committed leadership that represents them in the state of Vidhan Sabha.

It was a historic day for the people of the Dharampur Vidhan Sabha area as a record 96 development projects worth Rs 381 crore were dedicated to the people of the area, the CM said.

Thakur further stated that the Coronavirus pandemic has severely devastated the global economy and Himachal Pradesh was no exception. But timely decisions of the central leadership and the state government combined with active cooperation of the people, the country and the state gradually got out of this situation.

But even during the pandemic, he had laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 4,500 crore in about 42 Vidhan Sabha areas of the state.

“Congress leaders did nothing in this crisis and even tried to politicize this sensitive issue. It is a pity that, despite having been in power for about 50 years, the congressional leaders never thought of such welfare arrangements and the party leaders were busy with their own development,” he said, reminding congressional leaders that there were only 50 ventilators were in the state. as the pandemic spread, while HP has more than 1,000 fans today.

The CM added that Jal Jeevan Mission has proved to be a boon to the people as the state has committed to provide every household with a fully functional water tap by the middle of next year.
