The analytics company Alexa has revealed the top 50 websites that Australians visit most. This handy chart breaks down the list into colour-coded categories. (As you’d probably expect, social media, search engines and porn all feature.)

Alexa’s website rankings outlines the sites Australians are visiting the most on a daily basis. Here’s the top ten:

  1. google.com.au: Search the web from Google Australia’s homepage.
  2. youtube.com: User-submitted videos with rating, comments, and contests.
  3. google.com: Enables users to search the world’s information, including webpages, images, and videos. Offers unique features and search technology
  4. facebook.com: A social utility that connects people, to keep up with friends, upload photos, share links and videos
  5. reddit.com: User-generated news links. Votes promote stories to the front page.
  6. wikipedia.org: A free encyclopedia built collaboratively using wiki software. (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License).
  7. ebay.com.au: Auction sales with a focus on Australian buyers and sellers. Includes policies, search by product type, and links into the international site for additional listings.
  8. live: Search engine from Microsoft
  9. Twitter: Social networking and microblogging service utilising instant messaging, SMS or a web interface.
  10. Instagram: Photography and video social media website.

There has been some slight changes since we last ran this story, with Instagram and Twitter both edging into the Top Ten for the first time. Here’s the full list from back in 2016 (click to enlarge):

Interestingly, the entertainment website Diply managed to edge its way into the Top 10 last year, beating out such online staples as Twitter, Netflix, Instagram and Gumtree. Pirate streaming site Gomovies.to is the 39th most visited site by Aussies. Only two porn sites made it into the top 50 – Porn Hub (at #23) and Xvideos.com (at #50).

You can dive into the performance of each website in the top 50 here.
