Snow reaches Lancashire today, Met Office issues weather warning

Snow will arrive in Lancashire tonight after the Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning.

From 5pm today to 10am Saturday, there will be some hindrance to travel due to the many white clutter.

The areas affected are Nelson, Colne, Barnoldswick and east of Burnley and Bacup.

The other areas outside Lancashire covered by the snow weather alert are Bradford, Huddersfield, East Carlisle and Southern Scotland.

The Met Office said: “Snow showers on the hills could cause some disruption to travel Friday evening and Saturday.

“There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or canceled train and air travel.

“There is a small chance that some rural communities will be cut off.

“There is a small chance that power outages will occur and other services, such as cell phone range, will be affected.”

It comes at a time when forecasters also warned of travel chaos and a ‘danger to life’ as Storm Arwen, the first winter storm of the year, ravages parts of the UK with winds of 75mph.

A yellow weather warning for winds covering central and western Lancashire, Cumbria and Merseyside has been instituted by the Met Office and is active until midnight.

A second yellow wind warning will then apply to all of Lancashire, from the first Saturday until 6pm the same day.

In the latest Met Office update, a red wind weather warning was issued for parts of North East England and East Scotland.

Stephen Dixon, a Met Office spokesperson, said: “As Arwen is a nuisance, there is also a chance of snow in the coming days, especially in the higher elevations of Scotland and northern England.

“There may also be some snowfall in the lower reaches of northern England, although this is likely to be short-lived and will come in the form of sleet or winter rain.

“It comes on the background of a temperature drop, with parts of rural Scotland and England dropping below freezing overnight.”

score updates from day two of the first test in Brisbane

stokes, as I said before, no training, is long out and he has to come in at 11-3. It’s exactly what you don’t need. New ball, bowlers on top of the game, confidence high. His lack of match training told him he was just standing right on a ball, with his chest in a bad position because you haven’t played match cricket.

Hameed and Jos Buttler played very well, to their credit. Gutsy, determined, stayed inside. Buttler came and attacked. But there’s nothing you can do when you’ve got a good ball, and they both have a good ball, you have to raise your hand and say ‘at least I got the Seamers bowling, I didn’t give wickets, full credit to them ‘. They did a good job, but then it’s almost over.

The young Pope hit beautifully, wonderful footwork, looked confident, at ease, I thought – and I thought for a long time – he can bat, he is a quality batsman. But then he hooked the throat of his fine leg. We’ve all done it, it’s a big mistake, especially when you’re in trouble, and in Australia the ball rushes, it gets a little big sometimes, not smart, but we’ve all made mistakes.

After that, the tail will never get you out of jail again. Chris Woakes scored a couple of runs, looks good, we know he can bat a bit but England need him to take wickets. By the time he hits, England is in so much trouble that he can’t get us out.

Our bowlers are playing catch-up cricket again. They will have to put in an exceptional feat to keep the Ashes alive. If England lose this Test match they will have to win two of the next four as Australia are the holders. Possibly? Yes, but realistically very unlikely. England need a great bowling performance, great catches and then exceptional at bats in the second innings. All we can do is pray for that miracle.

The future of lightweight depends on the outcome of Lomachenko's fight - promoter

Ukraine there are two boxers at once competing for the lightweight championship fight. Vasily Lomachenko and Denis Berinchik aim to fight for the world champion title, which will hold their next fights in December, but no title fights yet.

Berinchik’s promoter wants to compete for the title

Denis Berinchik will meet the Russian Iso Chaniev on December 18. Alexander Krasyuk, Berinchik’s promoter, wants Denis to win a championship fight if he beats Chaniev.

However, according to Krasyuk, the fate of the lightweight division will depend on the outcome of Lomachenko’s fight against Richard Commey. The fight will take place on December 11 in the US.

I’d tell him to head toward the fight, just behind the belt. However, we don’t know what to expect. The future in this division will depend on the outcome of the fight between Lomachenko and Commie, Krasyuk said.

For information. George Kamposos is the WBO, WBA, IBF and WBC Franchise World Lightweight Champion. Lomachenko leads the WBO rating and Berinchik is on the third line.

Alexander Krasyuk said that Berinchik has to beat Isa Chaniev in a quality way, because his fight will be broadcast in the US.

“Since this fight will be broadcast in the US on ESPN+, this will be an application for him to the American public. We will introduce him to the local public, with his boxing we will show that he is not just some man from Ukraine that nobody knows about. He will be recognized, he will be to see him in the ring as we are used to seeing him,” the promoter noted.

He added that going out on American television is one of the ways to convince Berinchik as an interesting boxer for a fight.

Important. In 2021, Lomachenko and Berinchik have had one fight so far. Denis defeated Jose Sanchez ahead of schedule in March. At the same time, Vasily Lomachenko brutally knocked out Masayoshi Nakatani in the summer.
