Extreme weather conditions make Uttarakhand village call for monitoring

Mumbai, Nov 25 (IANS): With four projects released and one film in the pipeline, actor Sunny Hinduja has carved out his place in the entertainment world.

As the actor celebrates his birthday in Goa on Thursday, looking back on his journey so far, he says his success is the result of a decade-long struggle.

Speaking to IANS, Sunny said: “I think anyone who comes from outside to make it big in the industry has to go through a fair share of battle. My current performance is the result of a decade-long battle. But I don’t want to to talk about how many times I was rejected at auditions before being selected.

“Rejection is the part of the process… when you’re new it’s only natural that people initially doubt or don’t think about you, they don’t know you. But that’s okay, it’s about what happens in the end. happens to you. I am very grateful for everything that finally happened to me.”

This year, the actor has appeared in web series such as ‘Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare’, ‘Aspirants’, ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Inside Edge’ and a web movie ‘Jamun’.

When asked about choosing one of the inspiring on-screen characters from his work to date and Sunny said, “I would say the character of ‘Sandeep bhaiya’ from the web series called ‘Aspirants’. You know when the show was released, our country had gone through the second wave of the pandemic. People, especially young people, lost hope…there is nothing more dangerous than to lose hope for a person.

“After that comes anxiety, depression and other psychological problems. I think our show was a lot and my character Sandeep bhaiya was a very positive, inspiring man. I got a lot of love from a young audience for that.”

While the OTT platforms have brought the careers of many actors to life, over the past two years we’ve seen the space become competitive as well.

On how he looks at reality, Sunny said: “Yes, it is true that before that we said that we have a lot of talent in our country, but over the past two years, with the number of shows and movies released on OTT platforms, all talents are visible So the competition is optimized but so are the opportunities Maybe that’s why me or all budding talents don’t worry about the competition I think as long as we get work good stories are told good scripts have been written – we are happy.”

So, what’s the next project Sunny will be featured in?

“I have signed three projects but honestly I can only speak about the film called ‘Shehzada’. It is a film directed by Rohit Dhawan, produced by T-Series and Allu Arjun Films. The film features Kartik Aryan , Paresh Rawal saab and Manisha (Koirala) maam. It’s a great cast and I play an interesting character in it. The shooting of the film has already started and I will join them soon,” he signed.

Government ignored 2013 warnings over national lottery sale

The Fine Gael-Labour government ignored warnings in 2013 that the sale of the then National Lottery for €500 million could have serious consequences.

The National Lottery, which is under heavy pressure due to the difficulty of winning the jackpot, was sold to fund the National Children’s Hospital.

The deal was opposed in the Seanad by independent Senator Marie Louise O’Donnell, who warned it would net a €500 million bonus for “the swagmen, the looters and bootymen.”

She said An Post would be “replaced by private sector companies and consortia, gaming and gambling organizations…who only make big bids on assets if they think they can make more money later on.”

She said the losers would be the public, noting that the lottery was “the people’s money.” It comes from the bottom of their pockets. It’s their lottery. It’s not yours.’

The senator was supported by Thomas Byrne of Fianna Fáil, who said: “It is generally the case with lotteries around the world that they remain in their own territory and are seen as a sign of nationality.”

There are now problems on two fronts as the National Lottery faces a pre-Christmas grilling by the mighty Joint Committee on Finance, Public Spending and Reform. Committee chair John McGuinness said the plan is to bring in the National Lottery before Christmas to answer questions.

‘We’re going to grill them on the numbers. What is the current level of profitability, what is the revenue, how much does the treasury get and what is the wages of those who run it? They have to explain how they turned the Lotto into a casino, falsifying the odds against the gambler.”
