A McDonald’s drive-thru customer has visited the fast food restaurant after being fined £400 (Rs 39,000) over a new parking rule. Richard Moore, from Walsall, West Midlands in the UK, has been fined four times at McDonald’s Littleton.

The drive-thru customers will be fined if they stay in the parking lot for more than 10 minutes. They are clocked by CCTV as soon as they line up for food.

McDonald’s does not own the parking lot but is being asked to act after customers have been repeatedly fined.

“Now the nature of a drive through as it says, I drive through, collect my food and eat parked, as I usually have for the past two years, I did not notice the changed parking signs. This is not your average parking space, since it doesn’t account for the dynamics of McDonald’s daily drive-through customers,” Moore said. LADbible.

He said: “It would have been very helpful if there were warning signs posted at the drive-through and perhaps verbal information about the changed free parking time to just 10 minutes.”

Moore said no information was given about the change in parking conditions. “I continued to use McDonald’s and the parking lot as I had for the past two years. I have now stopped doing this because as a drive-through customer it is far too risky to complete my purchase in 10 minutes,” he added.

Moore isn’t the only one who has been fined for parking regulations.

City Councilor Lee Jeavons has started a petition to extend the waiting time on the privately contracted lot, which is managed by Ocean Parking.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We are aware of parking issues around our Littleton restaurant and we have reached out to the manager to better understand and resolve the issue.”
