Kedarnath: Netizens Criticize Makers For Re-Releasing Sushant Singh Rajput’s Film In Theatres

During the lockdown, many theatres were shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic and citizens were requested to maintain social distancing. It was recently in the Unlock 5.0 guidelines that the government decided to re-open cinema halls from October 15, onwards, across the country. With the opening of theatres, makers of Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Kedarnath decided to release the movie in theatres. However, some social media users are not happy with the film being released in the cinemas and they took to their twitter handles to criticize the makers for the same.

Several netizens are trending ‘Kedarnath’ on Twitter and are taking a jibe at the makers of the film. The users expressed their resentment over the release of the late actor’s film and insisted that no one goes to the cinemas to watch the film.

One social media user criticized the makers of the film for trying to monetize Sushant’s demise by releasing Kedarnath and said that SSR warriors are not going to watch the movie in theatres. The other user tweeted, “Shame on #AbhishekKapoor #PragyaYadav for trying to monetize our Gulshan’s death by releasing #Kedarnath in theatres now! Unless the money from ticket sales 100% go to SSR Foundation, we are not going to watch the movie in theatres. #ShameOnBollywood #AshamedOfBollywood.” Another user wrote, “#Kedarnath SSR is not getting paid after releasing it in theatres again. So what’s the point in watching it!!”

As netizens expressed their disappointment over the release of the film, there were also some who were excited to watch Sushant’s film on the big screen. One user wrote, “Happy to  Re-release jai sushant bhai.” Another netizen tweeted, “#Kedarnath to be re-released in the cinemas in the upcoming week!!! Once again our Mansoor will be seen on screen!!! Guys what are we waiting for let’s make this movie another blockbuster once again!!!”

Kedarnath featured Sushant and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles. The film marked Sara’s debut in Bollywood. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Kedarnath released in theatres on December 7, 2018
